- Abstract
Phenolic wastewater, a type of organic refractory wastewater containing chemical poisons such as phenol, have made a great contribution to human health and the social environment. Therefore, it urgently desires to develop efficient treatment approach for phenolic wastewater. The deep eutectic solvents (DES) provide an attractive option for extracting phenolic compounds. In this work, a series of ammonium-based DES were synthesized and were characterized by in situ IR, FT-IR, and TG-DTG. The extraction conditions of phenolic wastewater were optimized including the kind of DES, temperature, and wastewater concentration. The ability to extract phenolic compounds (phenol and p-chlorophenol) from wastewater by using DES was evaluated. The best experimental conditions for TBAC/Gly DES are temperature of 30 °C, stirring time of 30 min, concentration of 350 mg·L−1, pH between 2 and 6, and volume ratio VW: VDESs of 2. The mechanism of extract phenolic compounds using TBAC/Gly DES was investigated.
