The article discusses the role of American newscaster and traveler Lowell Thomas in the politics in the Hudson Valley region in New York during the presidency of Franklin Roosevelt from 1933 to 1945. Topics covered include a background on the start of Thomas' career in the media, his efforts to promote the region in writing and on the radio, and his criticism of Roosevelt's administration and the domestic economic program New Deal.
