- Abstract
The article discusses the emergence of white-nose syndrome (WNS) in bats which has been recognized as a factor that causes a decline in the populations of wildlife mammal. Topics include the fungus Pseudogymnoascus destructans which caused the WNS, the evidence of such disease when hibernating brown bats in New York State have died or dying, and a study which wound that the fungus is endemic in European countries.
