- Abstract
The article highlights some of the principles and limitations of various techniques for measuring muscle blood flow to estimate net exchange or rates of production or consumption of metabolites. It discusses few of the methodologies that have helped clarify further the linkage between the regulation of skeletal muscle perfusion and metabolic function, including positron emission tomography (PET). It also illustrates the pathway by which insulin binds to and activates its receptor.
