- Abstract
The article highlights a study which aims to identify the immunosuppressive response in pregnant women with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Five women with T1DM of less than 8 years duration were evaluated to determine whether pregnancy exerts an immunosuppressive effect. Four of the five subjects did not show evidence of beta cell activation by increase in C-peptide during pregnancy.
