- Abstract
The article focuses on a study conducted by Doctor Benjamin I. Goldstein of the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania and colleagues on the prevalence of substance use disorders among parents with bipolar disorder. The researchers found that the prevalence of substance use disorders among parents with bipolar disorder is 64%, compared with 40% among parents with other psychiatric disorders, and 21% among parents without bipolar disorder.
