- Authors
SHORT, APRIL M.
- Abstract
New museum exhibits worldwide are providing updated information on human origins. The Museo de la Evolución Humana in Spain showcases original fossils and important discoveries from the nearby Sierra de Atapuerca archaeological site. In Cape Town, South Africa, the Humanity exhibit at the Iziko South African Museum emphasizes inclusivity, human variation, and the interconnectedness of human evolution. The Iziko Museums of South Africa collaborated with local communities to develop the exhibit, addressing issues of race and racism. The Museum of Us in San Diego focuses on cross-cultural themes and universal human traits, including exhibits on beer making and immigrant stories. The museum aims to rectify its colonial past and create a sense of human commonality.
