- Abstract
The article discusses strategies for helping infants and toddlers from diverse language and cultural backgrounds adjust to early childhood care situations, focusing on practices that support children's home languages and help develop English language skills. The authors highlight the importance of establishing a connection between the staff at a childhood care center and the families of incoming diverse children, and special attention is paid to the representation of diversity in care centers. Other topics include appropriate linguistic practices for teachers, conducting conversations with parents with limited English skills, and teacher-child relationships.
