- Title
Viral Enhancer Mimicry of Host Innate-Immune Promoters.
- Authors
Kropp, Kai A.; Angulo, Ana; Ghazal, Peter
- Abstract
The authors reflect on the mimicry of regulatory DNA sequences by viral regulatory regions. The author state that immediate-early (IE) control elements may mimic innate immune enhancers which takes advantage of the activated immune signaling transcription factors (TFs) for gene expression. They add that horizontal transfer of cellular sequences to viral genomes or genetic drift of viral sequences are the two genetic mechanisms that could lead to viral mimicry of host enhancers.
