- Title
SIMPLE ART-RELATED ACTIVITES TO TEACH HEALTH.
- Authors
SEIGER, LON
- Abstract
This article highlights four simple art-related activities educators can use to complement their traditional methods of teaching health. The two visual art activities are drawing and a book-review project, and the two performing art activities are storytelling and role-playing/puppet show. Benefits to use art-related activities to teach health are supported by research, feedback by university students, and observations by the author. For the student, mental health benefits (Martin & Calvert, 2018) have been demonstrated while for the educator, using art-related activities offers variety and creativity for teaching health concepts. Regardless of artistic talent and experience, educators with confidence and a willingness to experiment can become proficient.
