- Abstract
The article focuses on the Finnish folk culture of Finland, which explores the difficulties of an oft-oppressed people and their history and discusses the origins of runo singing. It discusses the influence of runo singing and the folk poem "Kalevala" on the compositional style of several Finnish composers. It mentions that the poem Kalevala is inspired from the choral works in combination with elements of the ancient runo poetry tradition with nineteenth and twentieth century techniques.
