- Abstract
The fact that women are in the labor market affects both economic development and sustainable economic growth. Thus, women, on the one hand, contribute to economic growth, on the other hand, they increase their social and economic freedom by earning an income. However, although various legal regulations and projects were carried out in Turkey for this purpose, in order to increase the participation of women in the labor force, the desired place could not be reached. Labor force participation rate of working women in our country is far behind compared to OECD countries. Among the main reasons for this situation, gender-based perspective is partially dominant in Turkey, the main duty of women is seen as childcare and the education levels required for the job are not sufficient. In this study, the effect of female employment and female higher schooling rate on economic growth between 1988-2019 was examined. Time Series Analysis was made as an econometric analysis. According to the results of the analysis, a one-sided causality relation was found from the number of employed women to GDP, and a two-way causality relation to the female higher schooling rate and the number of employed women.
