- Abstract
A criticism is presented of the epic poem/novel "Aurora Leigh" by 19th century English poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Topics discussed include whether or not the poem is too masculine, or properly feminine, to have been written by a woman author, the fluidity of gender identification illustrated by the poem, and how the poem appeared to women readers in the 19th century.
