- Abstract
A critique is presented of poems from the cycle "A Century of Roundels" by Algernon Charles Swinburne, such as "In Harbor," "Envoi," and "Love Lies Bleeding." Swinburne's development of the roundel form, critic Karen Alkalay-Gut's comparison of the poems with a Möbius strip, and cycles in the poems are discussed, as well as paradox, rhyme, and Victorian English philosophy in the poems.
