- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the poetic episodes of "Geraint and Enid," and "The Marriage of Geraint," from Alfred Tennyson's Arthurian cycle "Idylls of the King." Through them a discussion is given reflecting upon the depiction of 19th-century English ideals of marriage and domestic life in the works. The developments of both characters are addressed in their challenges to adopt and navigate formal domestic gender roles.
