- Abstract
The article discusses a court case wherein two professional private investigators have been convicted by the German District Court at Manheim for offences against the Federal Data Protection Act. The investigators have used Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to track targeted persons. The defendants appealed the decision to the German Federal Court of Justice. It was held that it is illegal to use of GPS technology for private investigations.
