- Abstract
This article discusses author Graham Greene's book "The Quiet American," which has generated two motion picture productions. The 1958 motion picture "The Quiet American" was directed by Joseph Mankiewicz and starred actors Audie Murphy and Michael Redgrave. The 2002 motion picture "The Quiet American" was directed by Phillip Noyce and starred actors Michael Caine and Brendan Fraser. The film is discussed in the article as it relates to Cold War ideology and how it is seen as a foreshadower of history.
