- Abstract
This essay discusses archives and record collections built by English Catholics in the early decades of the eighteenth century which sought to build accounts of English Catholics during the Tudor dynasty of the in the 16th century, including English martyrs, 16th century English diaspora, and the Benedictines. The author considers how the process of choosing and structuring historical materials for such collections created meaning.
