- Abstract
The article focuses on a letter kept in State Papers Domestic under James I written by the Church of England clergyman Matthew Nicholas to his brother Edward Nicholas. It mentions the letter contains detailed comments on the choice of a suitable posy, a one line motto, for a wedding ring to be given by Edward to his mistress Jane Jaye. It also mentions number of items in Latin and French prove how popular these languages were for such posies.
