- Title
Biodiversity law could stymie research.
- Authors
Gilbert, Natasha
- Abstract
The article reports on how the regulations proposed by the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) can potentially hinder the progress of scientific research. It notes the concern of invertebrate paleontologist David Schindel on how the laws can detriment research projects. It also cites the comment by Brazilian Ministry of Science and technology coordinator David Oren on the need to maintain a balance between securing the intellectual property of a nation and the continuity of research.
