- Abstract
The article discusses a research entitled "Inactivation of conserved C. elegans genes engages pathogen- and xenobiotic-associated defenses," by J. A. Melo and G. Ruvkun. In this study, Melo and Ruvkun examined the transcriptional expression of immune genes in response to the disruption of central cellular activities. The study showed that a surveillance pathway monitors basic cellular activities protein turnover and oxidative respiration.
