- Abstract
A research was aimed to identify the problems of broiler farmers of Morena Janpad of M.P. A total of 15 farmers 5 each from small (1 to 1999 birds), medium (2000 to 4999 birds) and large (5000 and above birds) were selected for the study. Garrett’s analysis test was applied to analyze response given by entrepreneurs. Unavailability of bank loan (ABLP) was reported as the Ist ranked problem among the poultry farmers. Lack of Poultry disease diagnostic lab (LPDD) was identified the second important hurdle experienced by Broiler Poultry entrepreneurs. Lack of quality poultry feed at local level (LQPF), High cost of production and low chicken prices (HCP), Poor quality of chicks from hatchery and no replacement for poor quality chicks (PQC), Unavailability of regular power supply and commercial rates for poultry farming (URPS), Lack of all the vaccines and medicines at local level (LVM), Lack of Particular marketing place like Chicken Mandi / Haat (LPM), Selling of chicken below the prevailing market rates and on credit basis (SCPMR), Lack of training and extension facilities (LTE), Lack of market intelligence information (LMI), Lack of consultant/doctor for control of diseases in broiler poultry (LDCD) and Unavailability of proper transport facilities (UPT) etc are the other problems reported by broiler poultry farmers. The major suggestions to solve the problem was providing bank loan to poultry farmers from scheduled commercial banks, strengthening of animal disease diagnosis lab and subsidy on electricity bills.
