ON DOUBLE CONSCIOUSNESS.
- Authors
Eze, Emmanuel C.
- Abstract
The article explores the historical origins of the Du Boisian notion of double consciousness explaining the existential resonance of various literatures of the African diaspora. It notes unmistakable echoes over the notion of double consciousness according to the vocabulary of post modern and postcolonial criticism based on the Paul Gilroy's notion. Referring to the concept of ambivalence or the cultural identity of the modern Muslim, it draws existential and historical dispersals of Afromodern.
