- Abstract
Student-parent mistreatment (SPM) is a typical source of interpersonal stress faced by front- line teachers in their work. However, few studies have focused on the influence of SPM on teachers' psychology and behavior. Based on the analysis framework of "stressor-stress-outcome", an empirical study on the influence mechanism of SPM on teachers' organizational citizenship behavior has been conducted by investigating 230 primary school teachers with multi-time questionnaires. The results of the study show that SPM will increase teachers' psychological distress and negatively affect their organizational citizenship behavior, and that negative rumination plays a regulating role in the direct influence of SPM on teachers' psychological distress and the indirect influence (mediated by psychological distress) on their organizational citizenship behavior. The results of the study are helpful to fully understand the influence of SPM on teachers' psychology and behavior, and provide beneficial enlightenment for the management practice that improves teachers' mental health and job performance.
