- Abstract
The article discusses the tax increment financing (TIF) as a useful tool to promote economic growth in depressed urban areas. It analyzes that TIF in Michigan is relevant as an incentive tool when enforced within the constitutional and statutorily-defined parameters and as a practicable option for redevelopment. It notes that the requirement for public purpose may be satisfied if the TIF plan if carried out for the promotion of economic development.
