- Authors
TAYLOR, E. L. (STACEY) HEBDEN
- Abstract
The article discusses the contributions of the secular humanist society and the Christian perspective to the criminal justice system in the U.S. The rethinking method of dealing with criminals according to Ellsworth A. Fersch is mentioned. The proposal to the U.S. Congress and State of pressure groups such as The American Correctional Association and National Association of Social Workers to introduce a penal system based on medical and non-biblical models of man is highlighted. It explains the four assumptions behind the U.S. criminal justice system, such as everyone being able to choose between doing right and doing wrong, excluding children under legal age and lunatics.
