- Abstract
The article discusses the implementation of the National Health Planning and Resources Development Amendments of 1979 in a bid to deregulate the U.S. health services industry. It examines the regulatory and nonregulatory responsibilities of the health system planner-regulators to deregulate the sector. It cites the National Health Planning and Resources Development Act of 1974 that creates the local health system agencies (HSAs). It presents the role of the Statewide Health Coordinating Council (SHCC) in the deregulation process.
