- Abstract
The article focuses on the building codes in the U.S., and discusses aspects and efforts for improvements in municipal housing codes. It states that housing codes are an important aspect of the U.S. construction industry and attempt for reducing housing shortage. It further states that building codes help in regulating incompetence, injury and economic problems in construction. It presents a brief history of evolution of building codes in the U.S. According to it, the attempts to reform building codes must consider several factors, including building materials, establishment of boards of appeal, and delegated legislative power.
