- Abstract
The article focuses on the effects of funding systems on higher education in various countries in Europe. The overall funding system of a state constitutes an essential situational dimension for the strategic reaction of a single institution. Funding systems increase the awareness of efficiency, performance, and effectiveness regarding core tasks as well as the additional activities. Also presented are the weaknesses of the current funding systems. The insufficient amount of funds for higher education from state budget, in which the main problem of the funding system appears to be the problem of supporting quality.
