- Abstract
"Women and Power in Africa: aspiring, campaigning, and governing" is a book that examines the access and impact of African women in political power. The authors use case studies from eight African countries to explore the factors that influence women's political representation and their ability to shape policy. The book challenges the assumption that western liberal democracy is ideal for African women's pursuit of political power and highlights the need for context-specific studies that go beyond borrowing concepts from the global North. Overall, the book provides valuable comparative analysis and insights for scholars, graduate students, and politicians interested in women's political participation in Africa.
