- Abstract
The article describes a case study illustrating the impact of a prior experience of inpatient social workers of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in withstanding the effects of a disaster on their preparedness and response during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study examined the well-being, sustained employment and ability of social workers to support colleagues. It outlines actions taken that were a consequence of withstanding a disaster to instill confidence and resilience.
