The article focuses on the challenges regarding the use of genetic mapping to detect epistasis. It is noted that multiple testing is a common challenge in genome-wide scans for epistasis while statistical power is a related difficulty that genome-wide scans for epistasis face. It is mentioned that as inbred lines allows unambiguous cataloging of the variants, using them as the founders of crosses is desirable.
