- Abstract
This article examines research wherein acute toxicity testing was implemented via mouse bioassays to study the deleterious effects of an Anabaena flos-aquae strain that was isolated from Lake Dianchi in China. Species of the genera Anabaena are known to produce cyanotoxins that pose risks to environmental and human health and have been observed in eutrophic freshwaters of China. Alterations took place within injected mice's serum biochemical parameters, including alkaline phosphatase, aspartate amino transferase, albumin content, and blood urea nitrogen. Histopathological observations were also conducted with hematoxylin and eosin stain under light microscopy.
