- Abstract
The article discusses the recent exhibition of artworks by Norwegian Sudanese queer artist Ahmed Umar at Oslo's Central Station. Umar's series of black and white photos titled "Carrying the Face of Ugliness" features the artist standing in front of anonymous individuals, symbolizing his support for queers in Sudan where homosexuality is illegal. The article also highlights the cover art of the journal, which explores the concept of "butch" in the queer community. Additionally, the article includes three research articles that examine topics such as sex panic and policy-making in Fresno, California, the intersection of feminist antimilitarism and queer environmentalism in Helsinki, Finland, and the experiences of minority stress and microaggressions among sexual minority women in Sweden. The article concludes with a text by anthropologist Moises Lino e Silva, which critiques normative liberalism and presents alternative forms of freedom advocated by marginalized groups.
