- Abstract
Therefore, the study of the solidification of metals and alloys in metal/mold systems will always be important. The microstructure constitutes one of the pillars of the materials tetrahedron [[1]], bringing together the phases (matrix, second phases, intermetallic compounds, inclusions, etc.) and their morphologies. The solidification microstructure of alloys is fundamental in the production process of metallic components, as the occurrence of defects will result in significant losses in subsequent manufacturing operations [[2]].
