- Abstract
The Society for the Strengthening of Verbs (GSV) has published the book "NEUTSCH: Grammar, Vocabulary, Literature". The book deals with the variety of German called Neutsch, which is enriched by strengthened verbs. It is stated that there are two major verb classes in German: strong verbs, whose formation of forms occurs through stem modulation, and weak verbs, where everything happens additively. It is also pointed out that the number of strong verbs in German is decreasing, while the number of regular verbs is increasing. The tendency towards regularization correlates with the frequency class of the verbs. It is emphasized that changes in the inflectional class are not spontaneous, but paradigmatically directed. It is also noted that regular verbs can move towards irregularity. The text describes various morphological peculiarities of the German language that occur in the so-called "Neutsch". Various inflectional patterns and sound changes in verbs, adjectives, and nouns are shown. In addition, negations and antonyms are discussed. The text emphasizes the playful and creative nature of Neutsch and presents it as a reaction to language guardians. It is pointed out that the German language is not doomed to decline and that language change is shaped by everyone. The text recommends the book as teaching material for German lessons and as an opportunity to explore the inflectional classes and morphological regularities of the German language.
