Abstract
The article discusses the results of research led by Lukas Fasbender that examined the insectivorous plant Venus fly-trap (Dionaea musciplula). Topics covered include the nitrogen upake of carnivorous plants from the digested bodies of the animals, the amino acid glutamine added to the plant's traps, and the use of amino acid as a substrate for the plant's respiration.
