- Title
PLATINUM: South Africa.
- Abstract
The article reports on disruptions to production from safety stoppages and labour protests which lead to reduced output from Implats, Lonmin, Anooraq and Eastplats in South Africa. Metals firm Johnson Matthey predicted that supply of platinum from South Africa will increase only 3 percent in 2011 in contrast to growing output from North America and Zimbabwe. Mineral Resources Minister Susan Shabangu cited their effort to strengthen the enforcement of the Mine Health & Safety Act.
