- Abstract
The article reports on the approval of a grant worth US$296m by the World Bank Board of Executive Directors last May 29, 2007. The grant could now be used to finance a project designed to increase the availability of low cost electric energy in Democratic Republic of Congo and elsewhere in southern and central Africa. The project, in return, would increase the capacity of the country to meet domestic demand and to export power to the electricity utilities of 12 countries in southern Africa.
