The article critiques Theocritus' Idyll 10. It discusses the dialogue between the two characters, reapers Milo and Bucaeus. It highlights how Milo emphasized eating literally and metaphorically, in contrast with the slenderness of the mistress of Bucaeus. A metapoetic interpretation is proposed to explain the contrast.
