- Abstract
The following paper presents the results of the study on the opinion of students from the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics, and Economic Informatics enrolled in the bachelor's degree in the second year, the third year, the additional year, and pupils enrolled in high school at the "Tudor Vianu" National High School of Computer Science. The answers were collected through a questionnaire distributed and completed online. Its elaboration was essential, as the number of questions had to be chosen carefully and elaborated as clearly as possible. The purpose of the study is to discover the advantages, disadvantages, and elements of online education that should be improved so that this form of education, so far not explored by Romanian society, can be optimized. In this study, a variety of facts were revealed. For example, respondents feel that they are less encouraged to actively participate in online classes compared to the level of encouragement received in classes conducted on campus, students use personal time less efficiently in the context of home classes compared to on-campus classes, and the final evaluation scenario preferred by 56.3% of respondents is conducted entirely online. In comparison, 40.5% of the students prefer an entirely on-campus final evaluation. Furthermore, after hypothesis testing, it was concluded that teaching courses in the traditional environment are significantly more efficient than that in the online environment. Moreover, the efficiency of the process of teaching seminars in the traditional environment is considered to be higher than that in the online environment, the efficiency of the learning process in the traditional environment is significantly different from that in the online environment, and, last but not least, the efficiency of the assessment process on campus is significantly higher than the efficiency of the online assessment.
