- Abstract
This article reflects on the theological reasons for fleeing from religious persecution. It was created in response to questions about the legitimacy and purpose of Christians fleeing from the Middle East. We have compared the types of escape mentioned in the Bible and the reasons for it with the stories of persecuted Christians fleeing from Iraq and Egypt and derived four different theological approaches - the „salvation is at stake" approach, the „Altruism/Community" approach, „hearing God's voice" approach and „opportunism". Our goal is to give both those who are being persecuted and those who care for them the opportunity to deal with the various considerations that are made by those who are being persecuted when they consider escaping. Keywords: religious persecution of Christians, Egypt, Iraq, theology of fleeing, typology of fleeing, fleeing in the Bible, persecuted Christians.
