- Abstract
The author discusses about nosocomial infections (NIs), a systemic or localized condition resulting from the reaction by an infectious agent or toxin. He stresses the vitality of classifying NIs for surveillance program, based on the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) definition of infection and carrier state criterion. He underlines need of a strong research design and analysis for comparison of classification methods to reduce additional financial and psychological costs.
