- Title
Lo gnosticismo setiano è una religione abramitica? Abramo, Sodoma e il parabiblico nella letteratura gnostica antica.
- Authors
BURNS, DYLAN M.
- Abstract
The present article addresses the relationship of the complex of literary traditions identified by scholars as "Sethian Gnosticism" with relevant figures, themes and episodes of the Septuagint, particularly the patriarch Abraham and the tale of the judgment of Sodom as told in Genesis 18-19. In order to analyse and classify this difficult literature -- which inhabited the boundaries of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, as well as the wider spectrum of late ancient dualistic movements -- the author employs and tests recent scholarship on the notion of "Abrahamic Religion", proposing new and more insightful perspectives on both the Sethian sources and the idea of the 'Abrahamic' as well.
