- Abstract
The article focuses on Justice Columbus Moise Jr., a nineteenth century Jewish figure in New Mexico. It states that on June 7, 1855, Justice Moise was born from the union of Columbus Moise and Fanny Emma Levy in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1880, Justice Moise became New Mexico's chief justice of the Territorial Supreme Court and has been elected as city attorney in Las Vegas, New Mexico when he was still 19 years old. He married Sophia Dunlop in 1984 where they begot Sidney and Columbus Moise III. He died at the home of his mother in Kansas City, Missouri on June 23, 1895 due to stomach cancer after suffering for months and resisting the skills of physicians and surgeons.
