- Title
„The new normal“: Warum die Republikanische Partei Trumps Partei bleibt, obwohl er 2020 verloren hat.

- Abstract
Despite Donald Trump's defeat in 2020, the Republican Party continues to be his party. Trump maintains strong control over the party and continues to be supported by his predominantly white evangelical voter base. Three factors contribute to this: polarization, the allure of right-wing populist messages in the media, and radicalization within the political system. The Republican Party had already shifted to the right before Trump and developed a far-right wing. The electoral system and other dysfunctional elements of the political system influence the election outcome and exacerbate the division in American politics. A Trump defeat could lead to parts of the Republican Party distancing themselves from him and seriously competing with the Democrats again.
