- Abstract
This article examines the process of transitioning for newly qualified paramedics (NQPs) entering primary care. Despite the traditional expectation of 3-5 years of experience, there has been an increase in NQPs seeking employment in this field. The article explores the education, experience, and motivations of NQPs, as well as theoretical models of transition. It provides practical recommendations for supporting NQPs, emphasizing the importance of tailored support, clear role expectations, and funding. The article is authored by Joe Copson, Georgette Eaton, and Kamal R Mahtani, and is supported by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
