The author comments on the wrongful imprisonment compensation statute authorized by Ohio in 1986. Topics covered include a review of the causes and consequences of wrongful imprisonment, the state's current statutory compensation framework, focusing on the elements precluding compensation, and recommended changes to the Statute to achieve it goal of compensating innocent individuals for the time they spent in prison for crimes they did not commit.
