- Abstract
The article offers information on the history, development, and significance of the law of maritime wrongful death in the U.S. It discusses several maritime statues including Suits in Admiralty Act (SIAA) and the Public Vessels Act (PVA) for waiver of federal sovereign immunity in wrongful death proceedings, Jones Act for protection seamen killed in the course of employment, and Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act to provide a no-fault death remedy to seamen against their employers.
