- Abstract
The article discusses the concept of violence in animal sacrifice. Topics mentioned include an overview of the book "Violence and the Sacred" by philosopher René Girard which presented explanations of violence, the tendency of humans to create scapegoats to prevent the contagion of violence, and extension of the Girardian critiques of violence and sacrifice due to poor treatment of both animals and employees by concentrated animal feeding operations.
